From the desk of Dr. Tom Rappette:  I just returned from a medical conference in Sanibel Island, Florida.  At this conference I learned about new medical procedures and surgical techniques.  Four days were spent in the classroom exploring new technology for bone fixation as well as wound and bone healing.  This continuing education keeps my surgical and medical skills up-to-date with the newest technology in treatment options.  Conferences like these are important to keep doctors at the forefront of medical care due to the nature of healthcare and its ever-changing technologies and advancements.

A huge difference between Florida and Illinois is footwear.  Here in Illinois, most of us are out of our sandals and back into closed-toe shoes, and we start to notice our bunions and other nagging foot problems.  Whether you are unsure about your condition or reconsidering a past recommendation for bunion surgery, you’ll be relieved to learn that I’ve been practicing for 16 years and I’m also constantly educating myself on the latest techniques and treatments available, to help my patients lead as pain-free a life as possible.

At such a spectacular shell-collecting location as Sanibel Island, you can imagine my trip was enjoyable as well.  My three kids are still at that age where going on a “treasure hunt” along Sanibel’s beaches is an adventure to remember.  Needless to say, I’m looking forward to my next visit and also look forward to meeting with you to help with all of your foot and ankle concerns.
