At the Foot & Ankle Centers, we're proud to now offer Laser treatment of nail fungus and warts. Many people suffer from unsightly toenails caused by a fungus. Unlike oral medications that can affect liver and/or kidney function, laser treatment offers a safe and effective way to treat these nails. This simple and pain-free procedure is FDA-approved and done conveniently in our office. A consultation with the doctor will tell you if this treatment option is right for you.

Treatment and prevention of adult flatfoot can reduce the incidence of additional foot problems such as bunions, hammertoes, arthritis and calluses, and improve a person’s overall health, according to research published in the July/August Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery.  Also according to the research, overweight males in white-collar jobs are most apt to suffer from adult flatfoot disorder, a progressive condition characterized by partial or total collapse of the arch.

Dr. Bishop and Dr. Rappette of the Foot and Ankle Centers (Yorkville, Morris and Sandwich), members of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, regularly treat the symptoms of adult flatfoot: pain, swelling, flattening of the arch and an inward rolling of the ankle.  Because flatfoot is a progressive disorder, neglecting treatment or preventative care can lead to arthritis, torn tendons, ruptured ligaments, loss of function of the foot and other painful foot disorders.

In many cases, there are non-surgical options for flatfoot patients that include orthotic devices or bracing, immobilization, physical therapy, medication and shoe modifications.  When a patient’s pain is not adequately relieved by conservative treatments, they may be a candidate for surgical techniques to improve foot function.  Early treatment is the best route for optimal success in controlling symptoms and preventing foot damage.  Staying healthy means staying active and as pain free as possible, so doctors at the Foot and Ankle Centers offer foot and ankle treatment to help achieve this goal.

If you think you have something in common with Tom Brokaw, Albert Einstein and Gbenga Akinnagbe, that being flatfoot disorder, or you have foot discomfort, you can schedule a pain free evaluation with Dr. Bishop or Dr. Rappette at our office nearest you!
